Westwood Hills Nature Center is a 150-acre natural area featuring marsh, woods and restored prairie. The preserve is beautiful throughout the seasons and provides homes for many animals including deer, fox, mink and owls. Westwood naturalists conduct year-round programs to increase visitors’ understanding and appreciation of our natural world.

Wood chipped and hard surface accessible trails are open from dawn to dusk year-round.


Free parking in lot on site. 

The nature center is located just south of I-394 and east of US Highway 169.

From I-394: 
Take exit 4 for Louisiana Ave.
Turn south onto Louisiana Ave S.
Take the 1st right (west) onto Wayzata Blvd / Frontage Rd.
Take the second left (south) onto Texas Ave S.
Turn right (east) onto W Franklin Ave.
Entrance to Nature Center will be on your right. 

From Hwy. 169:
Take the exit toward Cedar Lake Rd.
Head east on Cedar Lake Rd.
Turn left onto Virginia Cir N.
Continue onto Texas Ave S.
Turn left onto Westwood Hills Dr
.
Take the 3rd left onto W Franklin Ave.
Entrance to Nature Center will be on your left.

Find lunch in the woods! We'll learn how to identify common edible plants, go collect them, and the prepare them. We'll end the day with a tasty meal made up of wild edibles.   Note: Rescheduled from Thursday, May 24, 2012.
