Minneapolis Queen Narrated River Cruise

PLACE TO MEET: by docks at Boom Island Park

LATE ARRIVALS: Please plan to be early to avoid being late due to inadequate maps, confusing road signs, road construction, heavy traffic, parking difficulties, or uncooperative children. If the boat has left the dock, you will be out of luck. Please plan to arrive by 9:30 AM.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION: A 90-minute narrated cruise on the Minneapolis Queen, a 78-foot state-of-the-art replica paddlewheeler, as it travels through historic downtown Minneapolis and the Upper Saint Anthony Falls Lock and Dam. We depart from Boom Island Park in the heart of the historic Minneapolis Riverfront District.

AGE REQUIREMENTS: This is a family activity -- for parents and children of all ages (grandparents, too!)

* I will be confirming our attendance numbers with the location on the morning of Monday, August 31 so if you must cancel after Sunday, August 30 you will be responsible for finding someone to take your family’s reserved places and for letting me know about the substitution.

GROUP SIZE RESTRICTIONS: 30-passenger minimum, 125-passenger maximum.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS: 

- SAFETY: This is a boat. Children should be supervised at all times. Running is not allowed. Stairways must remain clear.

- FOOD:  No outside food is permitted on the Minneapolis Queen (although you may choose to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy in the park after our cruise). There is a snack bar selling hot dogs, popcorn and soda pop, so bring along cash if you wish to purchase food.

- RESTROOMS:  Located on board.

- ACCESSIBILITY: The Minneapolis Queen is not ADA compliant, but assistance will be rendered as necessary. If you will require accommodation, please contact the organizer, and she will relay the necessary information to the crew. Strollers are strongly discouraged as they cannot negotiate the raised thresholds.

- AFTER/BEFORE EVENT ACTIVITIES: Located in Boom Island Park near the playground and fields. You may wish to stay afterwards for a picnic lunch and enjoy some time in the sun.

Coming from the North: Take I-94 east to the Broadway Ave Exit. Go left over bridge to Washington Ave N. Take a right and go to Plymouth Ave N. Turn left onto Plymouth Ave N. Proceed on Plymouth Ave N. for 1/2 mile. Plymouth Ave N. will change its name to 8th Ave NE as you go over the Mississippi River. Turn right onto Sibley St NE and continue to parking lot.

Coming from the South: Take I-35W North to I-94 west. Proceed past downtown Minneapolis to the Washington Ave Exit 229. Take a right on Washington Ave N. Go to Plymouth Ave N. Turn left onto Plymouth Ave N. Proceed on Plymouth Ave N. for 1/2 mile. Plymouth Ave N. will change its name to 8th Ave NE as you go over the Mississippi River.
