Description

Please plan to arrive early, by 10:00 AM. Boarding begins at approximately 10:15 AM. If the boat has left the dock, you will be out of luck!
A 90-minute narrated cruise on the Minneapolis Queen, a 78-foot state-of-the-art replica paddlewheeler, as it travels through historic downtown Minneapolis and the Lower Saint Anthony Falls Lock and Dam.
We will cruise north from Bohemian Flats toward the lower St. Anthony Falls lock, featuring views of the Stone Arch Bridge, Guthrie Theater, and Mill City Ruins. We will then turn back and go south toward Saint Paul, with views of the river bluffs and gorge.
NEW DEPARTURE LOCATION!! We depart from Bohemian Flats, located on the Mississippi western bank between the 10th Ave Bridge and Washington Ave SE. — on the opposite bank and about 2.5 miles downriver from Boom Island.
- Safety: This is a boat. Children should be supervised at all times. Running is not allowed. Stairways must remain clear.
- Food: No outside food is permitted on the Minneapolis Queen. There is a snack bar selling snacks, so bring along cash if you wish to purchase food. Hot dogs, nachos and Frappuccinos are $3.50, candy, cookies and chips are $1.50, soda pop and water are $2, and a meal (hot dog, chips and soda) is $5.50.
- Restrooms: Located on board.
- Accessibility: The Minneapolis Queen is not ADA compliant, but assistance will be rendered as necessary. If you will require accommodation, please contact the organizer, and she will relay the necessary information to the crew.
- Strollers are not allowed.
- Please plan to stay afterwards for a picnic lunch and to enjoy some time in the sun.

- Please plan to send your payment the same day that you register.
The organizer will expect to receive your payment within 3 days of your date of registration — or by the payment deadline above, whichever comes first.
- Immediately after you register, you will be emailed payment instructions from admin(at)homeschoolrecess(dot)com.
Make sure your email filters recognize this address as a legitimate sender. If you don't receive this email, please check your spam, junk or bulk mail folder. Contact the organizer if you are unable to find it; if you receive no response to your email, please call the organizer.
You are not officially registered until the organizer receives your payment.
- When the organizer records your payment, you will be emailed a payment receipt from admin(at)homeschoolrecess(dot)com.
The organizer updates payment records daily. If you've sent your payment and haven't received a payment confirmation, please contact the organizer by email or phone.
- If the organizer doesn't receive payment within 3 days of your date of registration or by the payment deadline, whichever comes first, your family may be removed from the registration list.
You will be notified with an email from admin(at)homeschoolrecess(dot)com should this unfortunate event occur.
If you are unable to send payment immediately, please contact the organizer to make other arrangements. To help the organizer identify you in the registration database, please forward your payment instructions to the organizer along with your request.
This protects the organizer from non-payment due to payment instructions blocked by overly aggressive spam protection.
- If you need to cancel your registration, please do so via an email request to the organizer.
Non-payment is not an acceptable way to cancel your registration. If you wish to cancel, please be respectful of the volunteer organizer's time and send an email request.
If you fail to send a cancellation request by the cancellation deadline, you will remain responsible for reimbursing the organizer for the cost of your family's participation.

(3a) Any reimbursements should be handled privately between you and your substitute. (3b) Please let the organizer know about the substitution. TO CANCEL ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT: (1) It is not cool to just not show up. Please let the organizer know if you are unable to attend — via email, text message or voice mail. (2) To avoid empty seats, please attempt to find a last-minute substitute for your family by posting to the HSAdventures Yahoo Group (as well as through any other other methods at your disposal).

Please plan to arrive no later than 10am in order to have plenty of time to find parking, check in with the organizer, visit the bathrooms and otherwise be boarded at 10:15am. Don't miss the boat! Please plan to be early to avoid being late due to inadequate maps, confusing road signs, road construction, heavy traffic, parking difficulties, inclement weather or uncooperative children. If you find that despite your best efforts, you are running unavoidably late, please let the organizer know! You may reach the organizer by phone or email on the day of the event.
Where to meet:
As soon as you arrive, please retrieve your receipt and name badges from the organizer who will be standing by the docks wearing a bright yellow hat and a Homeschool Adventures button.
Food policy:

Alternate plans:
In the event of rain, reserved cruise times go as scheduled. Please plan accordingly and dress appropriately. If weather precludes cruise, cruise will be held dock side until weather improves or cruise time expires. Should Paradise Charter Cruises cancel the cruise for any reason, an attempt will be made to schedule a new date for the group. If this is not possible or you are unable to attend the new date, you will be allowed to use your tickets for one of the The Mississippi River Sightseeing Cruises (which are available through mid-October at 12pm on most Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays). Neither the organizer nor Paradise Charter Cruises is responsible for consequences arising from or associated with adverse weather. Be aware that neither the organizer nor Paradise Charter Cruises has any control over lock closures due to repair or other issues controlled by the Army Corp of Engineers.

Parking is available at the Minneapolis Parks Pay Lot for Bohemian Flats at $1/hour, payable by cash or credit card (price subject to change without notice).

Bohemian Flats address is 2150 West River Pkwy, Minneapolis, MN 55415, in the Cedar-Riverside Neighborhood of Southeast Minneapolis. It is located on the Mississippi western bank, within sight of the University of Minnesota's Washington Ave Bridge (on the opposite bank and about 2.5 miles downriver from Boom Island.) Directions can be found online at http://www.twincitiescruises.com/directions From the North: Take I-35W south to Washington Ave S (Exit 17C) and go right to 11th Ave. At 11th Ave turn right. Go to West River Parkway, turn right. Go approximately 1/2 mile to Bohemian Flats on your left. From the South: Exit I-35W at the 3rd St U of MN signs – it will lead you to Washington Ave. Go left towards downtown on Washington Ave to 11th Ave. Turn right. Go to West River Parkway, turn right. Go approximately 1/2 mile to Bohemian Flats on your left. From the East/St Paul: Exit I-94 at Cedar Ave (exit 234C). Turn right onto Cedar Ave The road will curve left and become Washington Ave. Washington Ave crosses over I-35W. At 11th Ave turn right. Go to West River Parkway, turn right. Go approximately 1/2 mile to Bohemian Flats on your left. From the West: Take I-394 east to 3rd Ave Downtown exit. Proceed to the Washington Ave exit. Go south (right) approximately 1/2 mile to 11th Ave. Turn left. Go to West River Parkway and turn right. Go approximately 1/2 mile to Bohemian Flats on your left.
