Description
Dakota City Heritage Village is a 1900-era village and museum dedicated to connecting people to the rural past. Located in Farmington, Minnesota, just 30 minutes south of the Twin Cities, on the Dakota County Fairgrounds.
The Village Experience tour visits about nine buildings where children can try various period activities (e.g. using a stereoscope, handling items in the blacksmith's shop, rug beating, writing on a slate board in the class room, going inside the jail cell, etc). The tour is about an hour and forty five minutes; we then get thirty minutes to eat our bag lunches, then all paid attendees get an ice cream cone. If you have food allergies, let me know. They do have alternative treats if they're notified in advance.
*Note that only paid attendees get a treat, as the cost is included in the admission fee. If you have a child under 2, they can attend for free, but would have to share a cone with a parent or sibling.
