Description
Students hear stories about the capitol's history, art and architecture and experience state government when the legislature is in session. They will see the government chambers and walk to the quadriga, the golden horses, on the roof of the capitol, weather permitting.
A tour targeted toward children ages 6 to 9 (1st to 3rd grade ) is available at homeschoolrecess.com/ft/1238. If you have children outside the targeted age range or in both age ranges, please just choose the tour that you think will appeal to your family most.

Please do not register for this event unless you're able to make a personal commitment to attend barring illness or other unexpected emergency. If your circumstances change and you find that are unable to attend, please let the organizer know as soon as possible via email. If you must cancel for any reason after the cancellation deadline, you will be responsible for finding someone to take your family's reserved places and for letting the organizer know about the substitution. If you find that you are unable to attend on the day of the event, please let the organizer know as soon as possible by email or phone. Please also attempt to find a last-minute substitute for your family. It is not acceptable to just not show up.

Please arrive by:
Please plan to arrive no later than 10:45am in order to have plenty of time to find parking, check in with the organizer, visit the bathrooms and otherwise prepare for our program to start promptly at 11am. Please plan to be early to avoid being late due to inadequate maps, confusing road signs, road construction, heavy traffic, parking difficulties, inclement weather or uncooperative children. If you find that despite your best efforts, you are running unavoidably late, please let the organizer know! You may reach the organizer by phone or email on the day of the event.
Where to meet:
Please meet the organizer on the front steps of the capitol (unless directed elsewhere by the staff). The organizer will be wearing a bright yellow hat and a Homeschool Adventures button. Please retrieve your name badges from the organizer when you arrive as this is how she will check-in participants.
Food policy:
Please bring along a picnic lunch and we will can enjoy the weather together on the beautiful front lawn after our tour.
Alternate plans:
This Homeschool Adventure will not be cancelled due to weather. Please plan accordingly and dress appropriately.
Parking information:
There is metered parking on the street and also in the metered parking lots nearby. You will need to bring about $2 in quarters to pay for parking (one quarter buys 12 minutes of time).
