West Metro Competitive Physics Team Info Session
The Edina Center for Academic Excellence (ECAE) announces the formation of a West Metro Competitive Physics Team for the 2009-10 school year. This wider collaboration of area high school students will compete together as one elite team. By opening the team to students from neighboring school districts, it is expected the team members will be able to grow in global competitiveness and success in the 2010 Physics Bowl:

and advance towards the prestigious 2010 United States Physics Team USPT Competition:

Students in grades 8-11, who are advanced in math and would like to try competitive problem solving are encouraged to try out for the team. The team will receive professional coaching and train two hours a week through the fall and winter beginning in September. No prior physics knowledge is required although a strong math background is helpful. The short 4 year history of the West Metro program has already produced 1 USPT finalist, 2 USPT semi-finalists, 3 Physics Bowl Regional Winners and two Second Place Team finishes.
An information session will be held to introduce the coaches, explain the competitions and training format on September 17, 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Room 350 of the Edina Community Center, 5701 Normandale Rd., Edina. If you have questions, please email ECAE Director Susan Lee, susanlee@ecae.
