An online collection of scanned picture books and children's chapter books, available for free browsing and reading. Includes books in many languages (Farsi, Arabic, Spanish, , and has some "exhibitions" with themes and lesson plans. The books are beautifully scanned copies and a mix of old favorites and books that are new to me. The collection can be searched by the age range for which it is most appropriate, theme, book length, character-type (i.e. kids, animals, fantasy characters...).
As far as I can see, this site is not compatible with e-readers like the kindle, but I could be wrong. I don't have one, so I can't test it. If you are able to test, please post in the comments.
The most amazing feature: the library features some books that have been translated into many different languages, and you can toggle between languages on the page. Go here to read The Three Bears in English, Chinese (simplified), Chinese (traditional), French, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Romanian, or Spanish.
