The Martha Redbone Trio explore the roots of Redbone’s Cherokee, Choctaw and African American ancestry with musical selections from their new theatrical work Bone Hill. Utilizing a wide range of musical styles from traditional Cherokee chants to blue grass, blues, funk, and more Redbone presents an epic story of four generations of women in a Cherokee family working in the coal mines of Appalachia amid the Laws of Jim Crow. Bone Hill brings to light an important piece of American history that has remained untold.
Study guides are posted online 3 to 4 weeks prior the performance at www.ordway.org/education/school-performances/study-guides
