Homeschool Days: Health & Medicine at Fort Snelling
Fort Snelling had the first hospital in what would become Minnesota, but the story of health and medicine in Minnesota doesn’t start there. Take a journey through the history of medicine in Minnesota, from frontier remedies and cures, to army doctors during the Civil War, through medical advances during World War II.
Time: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Fee: $5 per person/day , $18 for series; MHS members $4 per person/day, $14 series
Part of the "Minnesota History Series" Homeschool Days.
Homeschool Days: Timeline of Technology
Throughout its history, Fort Snelling witnessed the use of many forms of technology, from the frontier era to World War II. This program takes visitors on a journey through the fort's history by focusing on different types of technology and science used by the soldiers and civilians who called the fort home. See demonstrations of military life from different eras, watch trades people work in the fort’s shops, and compare how technology has changed (and stayed the same) and how it plays a part in daily life today.
Time: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Homeschool Open Gym
Oxford Community Center has a homeschool open gym time scheduled this year!!! It is on Wednesdays from 12:30 - 2:30. It is free and open to all homeschoolers! Technically it is for those who live in St. Paul but there won't be anyone carding you at the door :)
It is for all ages. It is not a drop off, parents must remain with their child/children. I believe that there will be some balls and things out to play with and we are welcome to bring our own balls, jump ropes, etc.
